Electric current is a flow of electric charge through a medium. The SI unit for measuring the rate of flow of electric charge is the ampere.

In a conductor,when the potential difference is there(i.e., the number of chare carriers at the ends of the conductor is not equal), the charge carriers start to flow from higher number side to lower number side. This flow of charge is called as Current. The SI unit of current is Ampere (A).
